広島の追加点がボールボーイに阻まれた。２－０で迎えた６回表。２死一塁から前田が右翼線へ長打性のヒットを放つと、一塁走者の新井は一気に本塁へ。ところが、外野にいたボールボーイが「ファウル」と勘違いし、ファウルゾーンへ転がってきた打球をキャッチしてしまったため、新井は三塁へ戻された。ブラウン監督が１０分間にわたり抗議したが、２死二、三塁で試合は再開し、この回無得点に終わった。
