首位西武が、開幕から好調だった投手陣の乱調で今季初の連敗を喫した。ルーキー岸が４回途中５失点でＫＯ。２番手の大沼も小刻みに失点を重ねた。８回には失策もからみ、今季初の２ケタ失点というおまけつきの大敗。それでも伊東監督は「岸はそれなりに投げていた。打線もチャンスをつくっていたし（ロッテ成瀬に）完全に抑えられたという感じではない」と淡々と振り返り、初の連敗についても「まだ始まったばかりだよ」と冷静だった。
