中日井端弘和内野手（３１）が１日、プロ野球史上２４３人目の通算１０００安打を達成した。初回、ヤクルト先発藤井の初球を左中間に二塁打を放った。二塁ベース上ではスタンドの母節子さん（６１）に視線を送って「ベンチのすぐ上にいてお母さんが見えた。開幕３連戦で親孝行ができてよかった」と話した。一方の節子さんも「まさか打撃で記録を作るとは思わなかった。小さいころからキャッチボールが好きでその次に好きなのは走ること。素振りをせずにキャッチボールばかりやっていたから」と息子の雄姿に目を細めた。
