旋風が決勝で止まった。大垣日大１点リードの８回。優勝がチラついた２死走者なしから、失策も絡み２点を失い逆転負け。阪口慶三監督（６２）の節目、甲子園での監督通算３０勝を初出場初優勝の快挙で飾ることはできなかった。それでも勝ち上がるたび無欲を強調してきた阪口監督は納得の表情。「満点、満点。これだけ甲子園で成長したチームはない」。０－４で完敗した昨秋の東海大会準決勝から５カ月後の「再戦」。主導権を握ってあと１歩まで押し込んだ。１人で全５試合計６４３球を投げ抜き進撃を支えたエース森田貴之（３年）も「こんなに雰囲気のいい所で１人で投げられた。満足です」と涙はなかった。
