今治西（愛媛）と熊本工（熊本）がいずれも逆転勝ちで２回戦へ進んだ。
今治西は１－２で迎えた８回２死満塁から笠原が２点適時打を放ち、３－２で見事な逆転勝ちを収めた。２１世紀枠で初出場の都留（山梨）は大健闘。５、６回に１点ずつ挙げて１度は勝ち越したが、最後に競り負けた。
