日本ハム八木智哉投手（２３）が大乱調で、開幕へ不安を残した。初回に５連続適時打を含む７安打を浴び、打者１２人の猛攻を受けて７失点。３回に先頭打者の平尾、中村へ連続四球を与えたところでＫＯされた。その初回は味方失策が２つ絡み自責点は２だったが、４与四球で８失点。「球が高めに浮いてしまい、テンポも単調になってしまいました。後は何もありません」。ダルビッシュと並ぶ今季の先発陣の軸だけに、物足りなかった。
