根来泰周コミッショナー代行は西武に対してドラフト制裁など厳正な処分を検討する方針を明らかにした。この日、西武太田秀和オーナー代行が東京・内幸町のコミッショナー事務局を訪れ、東京ガスの木村雄太投手と早稲田大の野手に金銭供与した裏金問題の事情説明。同オーナー代行は報告書を添えて謝罪したが、根来氏は球団内での会計処理、責任分担などの報告漏れを指摘し、再調査を求めた。
