４月で４３歳を迎える球界最年長右腕、吉井理人投手が順調な仕上がりをアピールした。横浜仁志に先頭打者弾を浴びたが、以後はていねいに低めをついて６回を３安打１失点。ベテランの貫録を見せつけた。吉井は「細かいコントロールが悪く、ボールが先行したのが気に入らない」と不満顔だったが、コリンズ監督は「グレイト！ 何も心配ない」と絶賛。ソフトバンクとの開幕２戦目（２５日）先発を予定している。
