西武のルーキー岸孝之投手（２２＝東北学院大）がオープン戦３試合目の登板（先発は２試合目）で２勝目を挙げた。１回２死から速球を中日福留孝介外野手（２９）に本塁打されたが「まったくの失投ではなかったんで、打たれたのは悔しいけどうまく切り替えができた」と引きずらずに２、３回は３者凡退。４回に２安打と四球で２点目を許したが、リードを保ったまま４回２失点で降板した。「課題も見つかったし良かった。毎試合勉強になっています」と収穫を強調。ただし伊東勤監督（４４）は「ちょっと今イチだね」と評価を保留した。
