True Attendance Figures?

Discussion in the Ask the Commish forum
True Attendance Figures?
I've noticed the Pacific League is actually counting the attendance figures now instead of estimating. The counted numbers I know have been used in All Star Games and the Japan Series.

I noticed on opening day for the Hawks, the attendance was 34,717 and close to capacity when the Yahoo/Fukuoka Dome always proclaims its capacity at 48,000 people. So, have the "official attendance people" been simply overestimating all this time? Or are a lot of people getting free tickets?

I had been wondering why one of the slogans for the Hawks this year is "mezase [take/strive for] 1,000,000 people," when the Hawks have consistently drawn 3 million people a year. These new attendance figures might be the reason.
