This is a site about Pro Yakyu (Japanese Baseball), not about who the next player to go over to MLB is. It's a community of Pro Yakyu fans who have come together to share their knowledge and opinions with the world. It's a place to follow teams and individuals playing baseball in Japan (and Asia), and to learn about Japanese (and Asian) culture through baseball.
It is my sincere hope that once you learn a bit about what we're about here that you will join the community of contributors.

I've gotten a lot of good information from some MLB sources, but I still have some holes to fill, specifically with regards to Japanese baseball. I understand the posting system, but I don't understand how some Japanese amateurs are able to make it to the MLB without playing in the NPB. I think this is due to my lack of understanding of the amateur draft in Japan.
Can you point me to any resource(s) that explains how the amateur draft works and how Japanese amateurs make it to the MLB?
I appreciate the help, and, in the interest of full disclosure, my thesis is for the Sports Industry Management program at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. I'd be happy to post or send the completed product when it is finished!
