Pete Walker

Pete Walker
Hello!

I'm a sportswriter from Connecticut who runs weekly stats in our paper for local players. One such player, Pete Walker of the BayStars, hasn't had any changes in his stats in over a month. Has he been released? Is he injured? Any light you could shed on this subject I would appreciate.

I'm afraid that he'd been sent down to the farm as he went too many starts without making it through five innings.

In place of Walker, the BayStars called up a young Floridan named Cedric Bowers who they've had working on the farm team since April. Cedric had a little problem with the long ball his first couple of outings, but managed to throw the BayStars' first complete game victory of the year last night, defeating Hiroshima 8-1. A home run to LaRocca with two outs in the top of the 9th was the only run he gave up.

Nonetheless, Pete had avoided being sent down a couple of times during the first half with some very good outings. But overall, he just hasn't been consistant enough.

I wish I had something better to tell you.
