2003 Managers

Discussion in the Ask the Commish forum
2003 Managers
I didn't update the managers' lists on baseballguru.com last year, and now I've decided to catch up. I had through 2002 before, and I can get 2004 easily from your pages. Some for 2003 are a problem, though:

Marines: ?
Lions: Ihara, correct?
Giants: Horiuchi, correct?
Bay Stars: ?
Dragons: ?

Thanks.

You can get all of the 2003 rosters here. The only one that is confusing is Orix due to the change in manager from Ishige to Leon after the first month or two.

Nonetheless,

Hope this helps.

That does the trick, thank you. I tried to figure it out from the Meikan, but wasn't coming up with clear answers, and I had little luck with searches of the forums, probably because I didn't do use the best terms.

I just wanted to quickly point out that Chunichi's Yamada-kantoku was fired toward the end of last season, and replaced with (iirc) Sasaki Kyosuke.

I believe Sasaki had been one of the coach's but I don't exactly remember. Perhaps someone out there could corraborate this.

Yes, Sasaki was the head coach for Chunichi last year. But I'm not sure that he was given the kantoku job or not. I think he was "acting manager," but without the title. But don't quote me on it. Can anyone confirm or deny that he was given the managerial job in name, not just in duties?

I did a little Googling and found this, from Nikkan Sports:

佐々木ヘッドコーチが代理監督を務めるが、同コーチもシーズン終了を待っての退団が確実。

Sasaki-Head Coach will work as acting manager, but that he will leave the team at the end of the season is a certainty.

So there's the answer, according to Nikkan Sports.
