Japanese Baseball Video?

Discussion in the Ask the Commish forum
Japanese Baseball Video?
Dear Commish:

I'm a college prof; next semester I'm teaching a class on Japanese Pop Culture in Cross-Cultural Pespective and I plan to do a brief unit (probably one or two classes) on Japanese baseball. I have plenty of fun reading material, since I know something about the topic, but do you or any of your readers know of any AV media I might use as well? Some of the Mr. Baseball film might do, but only as a last resort.

Thanks so much, and I look forward to hearing from you.

Best,

A couple of years ago, the New England Sports Network (home of the Red Sox / nesn.com) did an hour-long program on baseball in Japan called "Diamonds of the Far East" as part of their Front Row documentary series. If you can get a hold of a copy I bet it would be exactly what you are looking for.

Try The YakyuShop. This should have everything you could want.
About

This is a site about Pro Yakyu (Japanese Baseball), not about who the next player to go over to MLB is. It's a community of Pro Yakyu fans who have come together to share their knowledge and opinions with the world. It's a place to follow teams and individuals playing baseball in Japan (and Asia), and to learn about Japanese (and Asian) culture through baseball.

It is my sincere hope that once you learn a bit about what we're about here that you will join the community of contributors.
