Notes: Since it is rare for one park to be shared by two teams, the Tokyo Dome is an extremely useful and interesting park to measure, especially because both teams are from different leagues. Now, the park effects:
In the Central League it's a neutral park, but in the Pacific League it's a hitters' park. By comparing the frequency of different events that occur to all batters from both leagues, the PL games at Tokyo Dome show a slight increase in singles, doubles, triples, and walks. This difference may be caused by the DH. If I may, the numbers are ... "in the same ball park."
The real difference between the two leagues occurs when you compare all the other stadiums. Pacific League parks tend to favor pitchers more than the other Central League parks do. Tokyo Dome's park effects are almost exactly the same. However, because of the overall effect, which occurs when comparing all teams in each league, Tokyo Dome boosts offensive statistics in the Pacific League games, but has little effect on the level of offense generated in Central League games. This is a site about Pro Yakyu (Japanese Baseball), not about who the next player to go over to MLB is. It's a community of Pro Yakyu fans who have come together to share their knowledge and opinions with the world. It's a place to follow teams and individuals playing baseball in Japan (and Asia), and to learn about Japanese (and Asian) culture through baseball.
It is my sincere hope that once you learn a bit about what we're about here that you will join the community of contributors.
