Minor League Schedules?

Discussion in the Ask the Commish forum
Minor League Schedules?
Sorry guys, first time on here.

My question is, are there schedules out for the farm teams and their locations? I would like to go check these out. Also, if I am sitting there with a speed gun, would the Japanese coaches chase me out of there?

When the schedule is created, it'll most likely be here (currently the 2006 season - in Japanese). In other words, no, there is not yet a 2007 farm schedule.

As for bringing a radar gun, I doubt if you'll be chased out. More than likely you'll attract a lot of attention and people will want to know what team you're scouting for and who in particular you're after. Depending on the stadium, it might not even matter, as many have a speed gun and flash the speed of each pitch on the scoreboard.

As for locations, the Shonan SeaRex (Yokohama BayStars' farm team) play here. That's the Keihin Kyuko Line's Oppama Station on the left. Just head east from the station, then shortly after the road curves to the right turn left (just before a park followed by tennis courts).

We had a thread a year or so ago with Google Map links to the major stadiums. I'll look for that after work tonight (and put it in an easier to find place). I'll also Google for the various minor league stadiums later (unless somebody beats me to it).

Hope this helps.

If you can't find it, I did a similar Fun With Google Maps post over on my blog, when I was preparing for my Japan trip this year. I think the post you mean on this site is here.

The Japan Times also has a Guide to Japanese Ballparks.

I wrote up my personal stadium ratings in a post, though they're mostly just based on my own experience at only a few games, which may or may not entirely reflect reality. And I've been finally putting up my trip pictures, which has shots of all the stadiums I went to on this trip; I'm about halfway done. I was thinking that when I finished working on the pictures, I'd try to somehow integrate all of it together; no idea if that would be an interesting feature to have somewhere up on this site as well.

I've also fooled around with Google Maps/Earth just for fun, and learned where most (not all) of the ni-gun stadia are located. Some are not much more than you might encounter at a public park or high school, save for a few rows of stands along the lines. The following link might help a lot. It's dated, put most of the info seems spot on:

Thanks Ken and Deanna. The Ballpark Trips site has all the information I need to find on Google Maps/Google Earth. Unfortunately, I didn't have time last night, and don't anticipate much free time tonight, either. But I will get to it by the weekend.

I found the previous discussion on stadium locations. It turns out that Eng-san has already done all the work in locating the ni-gun stadiums as well, as he posted here.

You need Google Earth to view them (available on Mac OS/X, Linux, and that other popular OS). The file also has KBO stadiums as well as Shikoku Island League stadium locations, and a number of train stations.
