Playoffs?
Sorry if I'm a novice, but how do the playoffs work? How many teams, etc.?

The Pacific League's first place team gets a bye, then the second and third place teams play a best of 3 game series. The winner of that series goes on to play the first place team in a best of 5 game series. The winner of that goes on to play the Central League champion in the Nippon Series.
The Central League, if I remember right, doesn't have a playoff, and the first place team just goes straight to the Nippon Series.
