Hanshin Agrees to Terms with Kevin Mench

Hanshin Agrees to Terms with Kevin Mench
Looks like the Hanshin Tigers have agreed on a contract former Blue Jay Kevin Mench. Sanspo is reporting that it's a one-year, $2m deal, which looks good for Hanshin with the yen strong against the dollar.

I can already hear the jokes and one-liners about "menchi katsu" in my head as I type this now. Hopefully, Mench can provide the offensive spark that Ford couldn't last year.

And for those of you who don't know what "menchi katsu" is, here is a Wikipedia link.

I think all those "menchi katsu" jokes were used up when Nate Minchey played in Japan.

The biggest head in the majors (and now, I assume, the NPB - size 8)! Mench definitely has some pop in his bat. He had a streak of 7 straight games with a home run when he was with the Rangers a few years back.

Mench has some pop in his bat, he should be a big addition to the Tigers this season.

Mench is a less talented version of Shane Spencer. Don't get too excited.

Mench had considerably more big league success than Spencer.
