[W]hat irks me is that terrible music they put on between batters on the Internet [...]Ouch. I do that on my broadcasts so that there isn't any dead air. My first couple of broadcasts sounded ghostly without anything in the background, especially during long pauses between pitches and innings.
This is a site about Pro Yakyu (Japanese Baseball), not about who the next player to go over to MLB is. It's a community of Pro Yakyu fans who have come together to share their knowledge and opinions with the world. It's a place to follow teams and individuals playing baseball in Japan (and Asia), and to learn about Japanese (and Asian) culture through baseball.
It is my sincere hope that once you learn a bit about what we're about here that you will join the community of contributors.

In the States, the commentary is much more layed back, interesting, relevant, and when there isn't anybody talking, you can hear the murmur of the crowd in the background, maybe a vendor shouting "peanuts" or "Coke." I can picture a hot dog wrapper blowing along the foul line in right field, the guys in the bullpen lounging about.
Sure, there is room for excitement, but over here, everybody in the broadcast booth has a communal orgasm over a routine fly out to center, and have to scream about it to the point where the microphones distort. I say the atmosphere is the heart of the game, but in Japan, they really don't have a clue. I get sick of it, and usually by the sixth inning I'm worn out, just can't take it any more.
