CJ's Blog Back up for 2008

CJ's Blog Back up for 2008
CJ Nitkowski's blog is back online for 2008.

I am currently on vacation and didn't even realize he was invited back by the Hawks for the coming season.

CJ's a friendly chap, and usually answers e-mail promptly (at least in my experience). Nelson-san (NipponHam11) has a good working relationship with him; maybe we can pool some probing questions together for Nelson-san to ask CJ?

FYI, from what I have read so far, it seems as if CJ is more comfortable with his role in Japan now.

I'm glad they resigned Nitkowski, as the Hawks have a ton of question marks in that bullpen. However, don't the Hawks have something like 6 foreign pitchers signed for 2008?

There's Nitkowski, Standridge, Guttormson, Houlton, Yao-Shun Yan, and then Powell (who won't be registered till June 22nd if SoftBank accepts the league's ruling, which they have indicated they will look into getting him on the roster as soon as possible).

Personally, I think that Nitkowski's success will ride on how SoftBank uses him this year. A lot of times he was misused, and he's a guy who needs innings to settle into his role.

Also, you can't forget about Restovich counting towards the foreigner limit on the roster. The only real lock for foreign players on the roster is Guttormson, so anything can happen.
