A quick Google with his name misspelled as "Marc Valdez" came up with this Japan Baseball Daily report stating that he was sent to the farm by Chunichi on or about June 6 with Martin Vargas in exchange for Satoru Ishikawa and Chen Wei-lin.

If you Google with "site:www.japanbaseballdaily.com" (no quotes) prepended to "Marc Valdes" or "Marc Valdez" (with quotes to preserve the phrase), you should get a good rundown of his ups and downs.

Hope this helps.

Michael, I was wondering why you don't change the search feature on your web site into a Google search on your web site. The google search seems to get much better results.

Thanks for that, Westbaystars-san. I think it's a real shame that such a solid closer (when he was with Hanshin) has ended up in Chunichi's closet.

I remember when Hanshin traded him, I said that "this Jeff Williams bloke had better be good or Hoshino-kantoku has just made a big mistake." OK, Williams was a good find, but I still feel Chunichi were wrong to use a proven closer as a starter.
