This is a site about Pro Yakyu (Japanese Baseball), not about who the next player to go over to MLB is. It's a community of Pro Yakyu fans who have come together to share their knowledge and opinions with the world. It's a place to follow teams and individuals playing baseball in Japan (and Asia), and to learn about Japanese (and Asian) culture through baseball.
It is my sincere hope that once you learn a bit about what we're about here that you will join the community of contributors.

I was at Koshien last night (Apr. 29) to see Hanshin vs. Yokohama, and Hanshin didn't look like taking the upper hand at any stage during the game. At one point, one of the leaders of the cheer squad tried to inject some vigor into the crowd with a rousing speech. I was struck, however, at how hollow the phrase "Yokohama Ginko" sounds these days in light of the BayStars' domination over the Tigers. Last year, the BayStars were referred to as Yokohama Ginko (the Bank of Yokohama) because whenever we needed to top up our wins column, we'd just pop over to Yokohama and they'd oblige. Not any more: so far in 2004, Hanshin have played Yokohama 5 times, and haven't won once.
