Okada's Future

Discussion in the Open Talk forum
Okada's Future
Anyone out there happen to know if anyone is waiting in the wings to replace Okada in the future? Despite the Tigers' problems this year, I haven't heard much about his job being in jeopardy.

I just can't figure out any more what he is trying to do with his line-ups. There's a story about how Billy Martin got disgusted with his team's slump and decided the line-up at random by picking names from a hat. He did this for one game. Okada seems to do it every few days.

Miyazaki-owner has expressed dissatisfaction with the current situation and Okada is on one year contracts now. However, this does not mean he will go (even though he should).

His approach does seem to be grasping at straws - finding a lineup that gels and sticking to it but rather without knowing how to chose. What I find amazing is that there are still places for Sheets and Imaoka (neither should be getting any starts) when young players should be being developed by getting lots of playing time. We are seeing these guys more often, but not consistently enough.

I agree with remarks on Sheets. I'm a long-time Sheets fan, but he's obviously in poor form this year. I don't mind giving him a chance around #6 or 7 to see if he can get back in form. But when Okada keeps putting him at #3 it's not right. Lin has earned the #3 spot and it's annoying to see him bumped down so often. Granted, last night was against a lefty, but Sheets still shouldn't be batting that high until he earns it.
