Koji Yamamoto

Discussion in the Open Talk forum
Koji Yamamoto
Koji Yamamoto is the "sixth best in career runs, 11th best in career hits, 4th best in career homers, 8th best in career RBI, and 7th best in career walks. Those qualifications make him the second best outfielder in Japanese baseball history." Yamamoto also had decent speed and won ten Gold Gloves.

You might think this sounds like Mickey Mantle, but he's probably too far down on the career hit list. This may sound like Barry Bonds by the time he finishes, but he might be short on hits and RBI, while long on walks. Perhaps better correlations might be made of Willie Mays, Hank Aaron, or Frank Robinson.

Jim, you had a great point about Foxx/Ochiai!

I think Mays, as a centerfielder like Yamamoto, is probably the best comparison of the three.
