Games for March 23 - April 2, 2007?
18 years ago I saw the Seibu Lions play in their home stadium and had a great time. I'm going to be back in Japan between March 23rd and April 2 in 2007 with my two kids (8 & 11) and we will be traveling between Tokyo and Kyoto. What is the best stadium to watch a game in in that area? Osaka, Tokyo, Yokohama, somewhere else?

Thanks!

Well, here are the schedules for that time period:
Pacific League 3月/4月 Central League 3月/4月

Looking at those, your choices seem to be:
March 24-25: Eagles @ Lions (Tokorozawa, 45 minutes outside Tokyo); Fighters @ Marines (Chiba, 45 minutes outside Tokyo)

March 27-28: Marines @ Lions (Tokorozawa); Fighters @ Buffaloes (Osaka Dome)

March 30 - April 1: Giants @ BayStars (Yokohama), Hawks @ Marines (Chiba), Carp @ Tigers (Osaka Dome).

I guess it depends on which city you'll be in when, and how far out you want to go to get to a game. All of those stadiums are outdoors except the Osaka Dome (Seibu Dome is open-air, and the Tigers don't seem to have a home game at Koshien until April 10th).

Chiba Marine Stadium can get awfully cold in April, being near Tokyo Bay and all, though I think that either the Marines-Fighters or Marines-Hawks are the best match ups during your stay if you want to see a good game.

Yokohama Stadium is pretty awesome if you want to take pictures though, since there aren't huge fences everywhere.

Is Seibu Dome different than the Seibu Kyujo I went to 18 years ago? I don't think that stadium was a dome. Did they replace it with this new stadium?

Is there ever a problem with getting tickets on game day an hour or so before the game?

Thanks for the quick feedback!

From what I understand, it's the same stadium, but they spent two off-seasons in the late '90s building a roof over it, essentially.

I can't imagine you'll have trouble getting tickets an hour before the game at Seibu. The only time I'd worry about a game selling out is if it involves those crazy Hanshin Tigers fans.

Tigers and Marines games will probably have the best atmosphere with their crazy fans, even in early season.

Would getting tickets for the opening weekend of games (March 24 or 25) present a problem (of a possible sell out) for the Lions or Marines? How early should you get to a 1PM game if you don't have tickets beforehand?

For the March 30 - April 1: Carp @ Tigers (Osaka Dome) games, how hard will it be to get tickets? Is one day easier to get tickets for than the others? How long before the game should we arrive to be able to puchase tickets on game day?
