2009 Senbatsu

Discussion in the High School forum
2009 Senbatsu
The teams for the 2009 Spring Invitational (aka Senbatsu) was announced last Friday, January 24, 2009. I've setup a bracket page here to track the teams through the tournament.

Of course, the bracket has not yet been announced, so that page currently just holds the teams listed in alphabetical order in the starting bracket round. No team has a bye in the first round this year as 32 teams were selected.

Much todo is being made about having Waseda and Keio both in the same tournament, this marking the first time for the Spring Invitational. The two rivals were both in the 1956 Summer Koshien tournament, but were both eliminated in the 2nd round, not getting a chance to face each other.

I've tested the page on FireFox and Safari. IE is always a hit and miss, so please let me know if there are any problems displaying the teams in the brackets. And if IE doesn't work properly, a proposed fix that doesn't break standards-compliant browsers would be appriciated. Otherwise, I'd recommend switching to FireFox (Mac OS/X, Linux, Windows), Opera (Mac OS/X, Linux, Windows), Safari (Mac OS/X, Windows), or Google Chrome (currently Windows only). Don't let Microsoft keep you locked in any longer. There is a choice.

Wow. I got scooped.

But one thing I did notice is that the teams invited to the Spring Koshien are those that finished at the top of the regional Fall Tournaments.

There are some exceptions though, but for the most part teams are invited in order of the place they finished in.
