Day 8 - Game 3 - Toyodai Himeji Koukou (Hyogo) vs. Yazu Koukou (Shimane)
The final game of day 8 looks to be kind of a wind down game. From a name standpoint, Toyodai has a large advantage over Yazu. But that’s why they play the game after all, right?

Toyodai Himeji
SS Fujii
RF Matsuba
1B Kamei
P Satou
CF Fukunaga
C Matono
LF Noumaru
3B Fukuda
2B Mitani

Yazu
LF Nakatani
2B Koetaka
CF Uchimura
RF Takeda
P Hiragi
3B Yamazumi
1B Takada
C Hirai
SS Kimino

Yazu actually gets the first scoring opportunity in the bottom of the 1st. Nakatani gets hit by a pitch to start. Koetaka sacrifices him along, and Uchimura earns a walk for Takeda. But he grounds to Fukuda who starts the 5-3 inning ending double play.

And like the last game, the teams are scuffling looking to get something going.

Toyodai Himeji gets a one out single in the 3rd by Mitani. But he’s caught stealing 2nd by Hirai. Fujii then singles to right while Matsuba reaches on catcher’s interference after an 8 pitch AB. But they’re left stranded.

Bottom 3, Kimino walks to lead off. Nakatani grounds into a fielder’s choice, but then is picked off 1st.

Botttom 4, Takeda singles up the middle, but also is picked off.

Top 5, Noumaru hits a sharp grounder to Yamazumi at 3rd. It goes off him and to Kimino. He makes the throw but it’s wide and Noumaru is safe. But then Mitani pops his bunt off to Hirai who subsequently doubles off Noumaru at first.

Each team gets an occasional runner here and there, but no one can get anything going.

Then in the 8th, Mitani singles to left for Toyodai. He’s moved over by Fujii. Then Matsuba hits one to Kimino, but he boots the ball and there’s runners at the corners with only 1 down. Kamei comes up and hits a slow roller to Koetaka at 2nd. But the slow ball plus a bobble by Kimino means that his only play is at first and Mitani scores!

That turns out to be the difference in the game. Kita Ootsu, after their impressive performance against Yokohama can’t muster a run against Nagano Nihon.
