Day 8 - Game 2 - Sendai Ikuei Koukou vs. Chiben Gakuen
Having defeated perennial Chiben Wakayama, Sendai Ikuei and ace Satoh Yoshinori would face Chiben Wakayama's sister school, Chiben Gakuen.

(A note to my earlier post about it being funny if Gakuin played Wakayama, they actually did the last time Gakuin made it to the Koshien tournament - they lost.)

Chiben would counter with their ace Uchinokura-kun.

Early on, both pitchers dominated the game, although it was Satoh stealing the show early as he would strike out the side in the 2nd. And as mentioned in a prior post, while pitching to Inamura-kun in the 4th, he hit 150, 152, and 155 kph (~96-97 mph) on the radar gun!

But in the 5th inning, things would fall apart for Satoh-kun. A lead-off walk to 1B Shriakawa-kun would be followed 2 batters later with a hit batter in C Doi. P Uchinokura would bloop a pitch to left field loading the bases with only 1 out. Then lead-off batter Satoh-kun makes Satoh Yoshinori pay with a double down the right field line scoring 2! Inamura would score another two with a grounder through the middle, and just like that Sendai Ikuei is down by 4!

It doesn't end there. After he gets 2B Ikuda-kun to fly out, Satoh walks RF Kishida-kun and gets an unfavorable bounce when Mikuni-kun grounds to first. The bases are loaded again for Shirakawa's second at bat in the inning. He gets an infield hit on a slow chopper, scoring another run!

And with Ikuei's offense sputtering, it looked to be too much to overcome. But in the 9th, they would try to stage a rally.

SS Yuusa-kun would start with a base hit to center against RP Sakaguchi-kun. LF Takeshi would strike out. RF Takakashi-kun would shoot one through the right side, scoring Yusa. 2B Hachiya would strike out, leaving Ikuei to its final out. Yoshinori's brother, Tsukasa would hit a liner to right field scoring Takahashi and lifting Ikuei to within 3. But Sasaki would ground out to second to end Ikuei's Koushien run.
