Player Biographies
WestbayStars writes "Fitts-san recently submitted to the Pro Yakyu mailing list that he's got about 35 short player biographies up at his site. Along with the biographies are Fitts-san's collection of Japanese baseball cards. You'd better take a look at them while you can, for the "Corporate Republic" (as described in a series of timely and well written articles on SlashDot) will most likely force him to remove the cards soon. Mr. Giants

On his Nagashima page, Fitts-san writes:
Japan's most popular player, Nagashima is nicknamed "Mr. Giants".

I don't know about when he was a player, but for now, the "Giants" part has been dropped.  Whereas everyone else on the planet requires a modifier like "Tigers" or "Tanaka," Nagashima-kantoku holds his own, recognized throughout the country, as just "Mister."
About

This is a site about Pro Yakyu (Japanese Baseball), not about who the next player to go over to MLB is. It's a community of Pro Yakyu fans who have come together to share their knowledge and opinions with the world. It's a place to follow teams and individuals playing baseball in Japan (and Asia), and to learn about Japanese (and Asian) culture through baseball.

It is my sincere hope that once you learn a bit about what we're about here that you will join the community of contributors.
