Softbank Hawks Sign LHP Pedro Feliciano
The Hawks have signed Pedro Feliciano as their final foreign signing for 2005. Feliciano split time between the New York Mets and AAA Norfolk last season. He has been playing this winter as the closer for Ponce in Puerto Rico, compiling 7 saves.

If given an opportunity in the Mets' bullpen, Feliciano would've been fine. Unfortunately the unstableness of being constantly sent up and down from the minors has to take a toll. Pedro pitched very well against lefties last year and had an impressive strikeout to inning ratio during this year's winter league. He's only 28 years old and has an attitude that makes him very likeable.

He's a good pick up for the Hawks and a bad move by the Mets who need all the bullpen help they can get.

Good luck Pedro!

The Mets sold the contract of pitcher Pedro Feliciano to the Softbank Hawks. The Hawks signed Feliciano to a 1 year 75 million (7,500-man) yen contract. Feliciano is expected to act as the Hawks' closer. [Link - Japan Ball]
