This is a site about Pro Yakyu (Japanese Baseball), not about who the next player to go over to MLB is. It's a community of Pro Yakyu fans who have come together to share their knowledge and opinions with the world. It's a place to follow teams and individuals playing baseball in Japan (and Asia), and to learn about Japanese (and Asian) culture through baseball.
It is my sincere hope that once you learn a bit about what we're about here that you will join the community of contributors.

Nonetheless, the fans at the final Pacific League game of the season were there for two reasons, for Rhodes' 56th home run and to say sayonara to a great manager (despite what some slanderous U.S. authors think). While they were disappointed with the first, Ohgi-kantoku didn't let them down.
Formerly manager for the Kintetsu Buffaloes, after his own Wave crew threw Ohgi up in the air three times, Taguchi led Ohgi over to his former team, and they took their turn. The fans loved it! And many of the Buffaloes looked like they wanted to chat longer with their former skipper than just the few words that time allowed.
After that, Ohgi-kantoku and the Blue Wave went around the stadium, starting on the visitor's third base side, waving to the Buffaloe fans. And the fans answered back with colored streamers and cheers of thanks. It was a retirement cerimony like I'd never seen before.
Otsukaresama, Ohgi-kantoku.
