The Dominating Darvish that we all know came through for game 1. Of the 9 hits, 5 were infield hits of various kinds and the run was scored after an error (and pitch). It's really a mystery what happened to him in Beijing, but maybe the talk about him being a dome pitcher has some truth to it.

Just got back from the game. The Buffaloes actually got 9 hits off Darvish, but just couldn't get the big hit. We met his father on the way into the dome, which was nice.

Darvish made this look like child's play. I hate to think about what he will do to the Lions. But then again, he'll probably be pitching at Omiya and not at the Seibu Dome, so we'll see what effect that will have.

There's talk of using Darvish in game 2 instead of game 1 outdoors, if that happens he'll only get 4 days rest until game 6 if the series goes the distance.

I also thought of that, too, letting Darvish pitch on full rest and starting game 2. Regardless, this is going to be one great series and I'm glad I'll be going to most of the games.
Simon, which days are you going to the Dome again? I'm thinking of getting a ticket for Tuesday's game in addition to the first 3 as well, and I think you said you were going on Sunday and Tuesday?

Interesting question, outdoor vs. domed. Here are some numbers on the season to think about:
I didn't break games down by time, but I'd also read that Darvish was notoriously bad at day games as well. Does anyone have any data on that?
