Kakefu to Manage Rakuten, O'Malley to Manage Livedoor

Kakefu to Manage Rakuten, O'Malley to Manage Livedoor
Rakuten's Mikitani has been very busy this week. After securing Kuehnert as GM, he announces "Mr. Tigers" Kakefu as the team's first manager.

At the same time, Horie-president (Livedoor) announced former Tiger and Swallow slugger Thomas O'Malley as their first manager, making it a big day for former Tiger greats.

However, the no-necktie company president may have hurt his chances at being selected with the appointment of Dan (aka Don, Donald) Nomura to his front office. The "agent" who "stole" Nomo off to the Major Leagues isn't very well liked by the powers-that-be.

If Horie's lack of necktie at the hearing yesterday didn't count too much against him, this appointment most definately will. Wanting to change the Pro Yakyu world is one thing, and Horie has got some great ideas and a lot of energy. But don't get everyone dead set against you before you've joined!

For some good background on Dan Nomura, read "The Meaning of Ichiro." You'll understand just why this will count against Horie with the powers-that-be.
