This is a site about Pro Yakyu (Japanese Baseball), not about who the next player to go over to MLB is. It's a community of Pro Yakyu fans who have come together to share their knowledge and opinions with the world. It's a place to follow teams and individuals playing baseball in Japan (and Asia), and to learn about Japanese (and Asian) culture through baseball.
It is my sincere hope that once you learn a bit about what we're about here that you will join the community of contributors.

Some Hanshin fans got a "flying start" by jumping off of bridges in Osaka on Saturday. The main danger in this practice isn't hurting oneself hitting the bottom, it's hitting and getting caught in bicycles and other junk that thoughtless people toss into the rivers from the bridges. Several efforts have been made to pull the junk out, but there's always more.
Nonetheless, when I turned the BayStars' game on this evening, Hanshin had already won their game 3-2, eliminating Hiroshima, their guests at Koshien this afternoon (September 15). Akahoshi ended the game with a dramatic sayonara bases loaded single to right in the bottom of the 9th.
After that, all focus turned to Yokohama Stadium. And while Yokohama started off in the hole by three runs in the first inning, they quickly turned things around with a pair of home runs each by Woods and Murata. Yokohama turned the game around, and after five innings, Yokohama had a 12-6 lead. Hanshin fans started gathering outside of Yokohama Stadium, and were walking around inside the stadium looking victorious.
Yakult put up a few threats thereafter, but each time a Swallow got to third base, the final out was recorded at first to end the inning. Denny came in and pitched a perfect nineth to eliminate the Swallows on just five pitches.
The celebrations are in full swing down in Kansai, and around the globe, as Hanshin has won the 2003 Central League Pennant.
