Orix's Maekawa Suspended after Hit and Run
Orix Buffaloes' pitcher, Katsuhiko Maekawa, was given an indefinite suspension from the team after being arrested for a hit and run accident he was involved in on January 6th. After hitting a bicycling young lady at an intersection, Maekawa stopped and made an argument with her, then fled when police came and asked for his license. The problem was, his license had been suspended four years earlier for speeding.

Maekawa was the #1 draft pick for the Kintetsu Buffaloes in 1997, and has a career 31 and 45 record with a 5.26 ERA. He was 1 and 7 with a 4.37 ERA in 2006 for Orix.

Mainichi Daily News (in English) is running an article reaffirming that Orix has suspended Maekawa "for an unspecified period after he was arrested for committing a hit-and-run without a driver's license." Toshio Hatatani-executive said, "We (club executives) warn players against drunk driving and other wrongdoings on the first days of our training sessions and so on."
