Kida in serious auto accident
The March 3, 2003 Japan Today [Link] has a report on Masao Kida's auto accident in Florida.

Kida and his translator were on their way to Vero Beach. A car crossed over into their lane and hit them head-on. Kida is in serious condition and his translator is in critical condition.

The March 4, 2003 Japan Today [Link] has a follow-up report. Kida is not considered to be in serious condition and was released from the hospital. Kida's interpretor had his spleen removed. The driver of the other car was driving under the influence of alcohol.
