Orix Signs Kiyohara
The Orix Buffaloes signed first baseman Kazuhiro Kiyohara to a one year deal worth 250 million (2.5-oku) yen. Kiyohara said former manager Akira Ohgi helped him make up his mind to play for Orix. Ohgi passed away last week.

Kiyohara said: "Ohgi-san said 'just come back to Osaka,' and those words really stuck in my mind. That's why I decided to play baseball again." [...] "I want to do my best for Orix for helping me out, for the Pacific League, and for the fans."

Kiyohara batted .212 with 22 HRs and 52 RBI before having season-ending knee surgery in late-August. Kiyohara has a career .273 average with 514 HRs and 1,491 RBI with the Seibu Lions and Yomiuri Giants.
