Softbank Targeting Royals' Carrasco
The Softbank Hawks are targeting starter D.J. Carrasco [Baseball-Reference] of the Kansas City Royals. Carrasco has a career 14-15 record with a 4.81 ERA in 101 games over 3 seasons. He was a rule V pick from the Pirates.

Here's the story [Japan Ball]. It says that Softbank is unsure if they're going to be able to get a contract with him or not, but are going to get in contact with him.

He goes by the name D.J. Carrasco, and he stinks. The Hawks should save their time and money and go after someone else. He has decent stuff, but no real out pitch.

I agree, Carrasco was wild and erratic with the Royals last year posting a high ERA (4.79), more BBs than Ks (51 to 49), had a high WHIP (1.57), and opponents batted .289 against him. [MLB Stats]

It looks like a done deal [Link - Kansas City]. I hope the Hawks don't get bamboozled.

The Royals made it official today (December 7th) what the KC Star said yesterday, by granting Carrasco his unconditional release with the intention to play in Japan. [MLB Press Release]
