Yamamoto to Resign
Hiroshima Carp manager Koji Yamamoto announced that he will resign as Carp manager at the end of the season. The Carp are 51-74-3 this year in last place.

Carp owner Hajime Matsuda said, "I've been informed of his offer to step down and I would like to meet him before making a final decision on the matter."

Under Yamamoto-kantoku, the Carp have failed to reach the top half of the league standings, finishing 4th in 2001 and 5th in 2002-2004.

Yamamoto hit 536 home runs in his 17 year career with the Carp, good for 4th place. He led the Carp to 5 Central League titles and 3 Japan Series crowns.

As manager from 1989-1993, Yamamoto led the Carp to the 1991 CL pennant.

This is a site about Pro Yakyu (Japanese Baseball), not about who the next player to go over to MLB is. It's a community of Pro Yakyu fans who have come together to share their knowledge and opinions with the world. It's a place to follow teams and individuals playing baseball in Japan (and Asia), and to learn about Japanese (and Asian) culture through baseball.

It is my sincere hope that once you learn a bit about what we're about here that you will join the community of contributors.
