Very interesting is an understatement! This is the kind of thing I really like reading about. And when the data shows something that I like (i.e. that Japanese baseball is of a higher level than previously thought), it's even that much more enjoyable.
What's more, Davenport-san immediately addresses some of the issues in McNeil-san's Baseball's Other All-Stars that I wasn't sure about (see that thread), such as going from NPB to MLB (and/or AAA) with just one year between. Also, his data is more recent, so older, smaller stadiums were confirmed to not be a factor.
At the end of the article, Davenport-san promises more on the top Japanese players "later this week." I'm looking forward to it.

Interestingly, Shinjo, actually played better in MLB than in NPB, much much better...

This is a site about Pro Yakyu (Japanese Baseball), not about who the next player to go over to MLB is. To sum up, it basically says that major league baseball in Japan is almost at the same level as in the US/NA. Previous comparisons had been comparing it to AAA in the US/NA, but that had been unfair. It's much closer to MLB than AAA
