This is a site about Pro Yakyu (Japanese Baseball), not about who the next player to go over to MLB is. It's a community of Pro Yakyu fans who have come together to share their knowledge and opinions with the world. It's a place to follow teams and individuals playing baseball in Japan (and Asia), and to learn about Japanese (and Asian) culture through baseball.
It is my sincere hope that once you learn a bit about what we're about here that you will join the community of contributors.

Washington is a great story. After 10 years toiling in the minor leagues the Cardinals selected him to be on their opening day roster. But it wouldn't last as he was optioned to Memphis on April 21, 2008.
An interesting name to watch will be former Seibu Lions hurler Christopher Gissell. The 31 year old right hander has been signed by the Leos. In 2008 Gissell went 7-3 with a 3.43 ERA in 25 games for the Sacramento River Cats (AAA).
In other news the La New Bears have signed first baseman Nate Gold. In 2008 the 28 year old batted .255 with 23 HRs and 90 RBIs in 127 games with the Oklahoma RedHawks (AAA).
The Brother Elephants have brought back 29 year old right handed pitcher Nic Ungs. In 2008 he went a combined 6-4 with a 4.29 ERA in 15 games with the Huntsville Stars (AA) and the Nashville Sounds (AAA). In 2007 Ungs pitched in four games with the Elephants.
