Felipe Lira and Benjamin Sampson in CPBL
Former Major Leaguer Felipe Lira has signed with the Makoto Cobras of the Chinese Professional Baseball League. The 32 year old was 26-46 with a 5.35 ERA in 163 games (79 starts, 574.0 innings) in seven Major League seasons. In 2003, the right hander was 4-6 with a 4.08 ERA in 13 games (all starts, 79.1 innings) with La Guaria Tiburones of the Mexican League. He walked 16 and struck out 51 batters.

Another former Major Leaguer, Benjamin Sampson, has signed with the President Lions. The 29 year old left hander pitched two seasons in the big leagues where he was 4-2 with a 6.85 ERA in 35 games (6 starts, 88.0 innings). In 2003 with the Tulsa Drillers of the Texas League, Sampson was 5-6 with a 3.68 ERA in 18 games (all starts, 107.2 innings). Before joining the Lions, Sampson pitched with the Salme Avalanche where he posted a 1-2 record with a 3.46 ERA in 7 games (all starts, 39.0 innings). He walked 11 and struck out 33 hitters.
