Trey Hillman to manage the Royals?

Discussion in the Nichi-Bei forum
Trey Hillman to manage the Royals?
I heard recently from a friend who lives in KC who told me that he heard some rumors about Trey Hillman taking over as the new manager of the KC Royals as soon as current manager Buddy Bell is fired, maybe even this season. I'm pretty sure that there's no chance of Hillman leaving the Fighters during the season to take over the Royals' job this season, but has anyone else heard anything about Hillman being considered by the Royals to take over as manager next season? I believe Hillman is in the last year of a 3-year contract, so it would make sense that he might be considering a move back to the U.S., especially if it's a big league job.

I have nothing to report other than to say that new GM Dayton Moore is shaking up the KC roster and it would seem to be a good next step. I don't think Bell will be fired mid-season (nor would Hillman-kantoku leave mid-season) but the Royals have nowhere to go but up.

Good for him if he is offered the job.

Thanks for the info. It would be good for Hillman if he is offered the Royals job or any other MLB job after this season. He has certainly paid his dues in the minors in the U.S. and in Japan the last 3 years.
