Takatsu Signed by the Mets

Discussion in the Nichi-Bei forum
Takatsu Signed by the Mets
Takatsu was signed to a minor league contract by the New York Mets. It's reported to be a short term trial to see if he can get called up to the show in a few weeks when the rosters expand.

What's been his problem this year?

Takatsu just couldn't throw strikes when needed, that's his problem.

That was Ishii's problem. Takatsu was much better last year, though. What has changed, or could he not throw strikes last year but was lucky? Getting adjusted?

Well Dustin Hermanson was also brought in as closer, and Takatsu's opportunites were less and less. Hermanson has been lights out as a closer, Takatsu really hasn't had a role with the White Sox and hasn't pitched much.

If he pitches good in AAA Norfolk, I think he will be fine.

The Mets' pen sure could use some help. If he can round into better form, he should get many opportunities to relieve with the Mets.
