Yankees sign Nomo
The Yankees sign P Hideo Nomo to a minor league contract. Nomo was released by the Devil Rays, Monday(July 25th). Nomo went 5-8 with a 7.24ERA in 19starts w/the Devil Rays.

Nomo will report to AAA Columbus and make at least one rehab start before joining the Yankees.

Yankees' manager Joe Torre said Wednesday (August 31st) that he has no intention of calling up Nomo now that rosters have expanded today (September 1). [Full Story - Japan Ball]

Nomo had a 1-3 record with a 4.50 ERA in 6 games/6 starts. He had 21 BB/31 K ratio in 30 innings. [Minor League Stats]

Nomo had a very good game on September 2. 7.1 innings, 3 hits, 0 runs, 10 Ks. Maybe this will get him going.
