Mike Johnson, We Hardly Knew Ye

Discussion in the KBO News forum
Mike Johnson, We Hardly Knew Ye
It sounds like Mike Johnson gets to make the long flight home of failure. He was roughed up in a pair of relief outings last week and SK has seen enough.

Why does the Korean league release its foreign players so quickly?

Have a look at what Shinsano-san wrote about the release over at East Windup Chronicle.

I think that both Korea and Taiwan do this a lot. One big difference from those two leagues and Japan is that they may only have two foreigners in their entire organization, whereas Japanese teams may have as many as they can pay, but only 4 up at ichi-gun at a time. So Japanese teams will often allow a new foreign player time to adjust on the farm team, whereas both Korean and Taiwanese teams want immediate dividends. (Granted, some players, like Dan Miceli, get released from Japan very quickly when they can't buy an out for all they're making, and refuse to be sent to the farm team.)
