Korea Data Project

Discussion in the KBO News forum
Korea Data Project
I've got the 2008 KBO data up on Google Docs here. This includes pitching and hitting data, as well as club rosters.

Is this data accurate? I don't know, I did my best. But I will say that many of the names need correcting.

If you would like to help out on this project, send me a note to westbaystars@japanesebaseball.com or reply to this post with your preferred e-mail address for using Google Docs. (Posts just volunteering (and not saying anything else) will not be made public, and all e-mail addresses will be obfuscated or removed.)

I look forward to some help from you KBO fans.

Great work, Michael. Too bad the KBO doesn't track defensive stats other than errors.

I would like to give a special thanks to the reporter who pointed out the problem (but I didn't get permission to use his/her name). It looks like there are still some journalists out there with the integrity necessary to double check and challenge sources.

Where are the KBO fans? Who and how many have used the data so far?

If you've downloaded the data since my last post, then you may want to do so again. That's because I've updated the names in all three sheets of the spreadsheet.

Beemer posted his KBO data here, and I've merged his names with the above Google Spreadsheet.

If you want to download and manipulate the 2008 KBO spreadsheet with OpenOffice (or compatible spreadsheet software such as NeoOffice, KOffice, etc.), you can get the OpenDocument version here.

Since neither Beemer nor I are really fluent in Korean, some of the names may still be transliterated incorrectly. We would greatly appreciate any help from you KBO fans in correcting name spellings.
