Chong Highest Paid Player in KBO History

Park Song-wu wrote in the February 3, 2004 Korea Times [Link] that Chong Min-tae signed a 2004 contract worth 740 million won ($620,000) with the Hyundai Unicorns. This is the highest annual player salary in Korean Baseball Organization history, surpassing the 630 million won that Lee Seung-yeop received last year (low by MLB or NPB standards).

Chong was the 2003 Korean Series MVP and led the league during the regular season with 17 wins and .895 winning average.

Chong's two years with Japan's Yomiuri Giants produced a record of 2 wins and one loss with a 6.28 ERA.

The article also states that Chong will join the team practices in Chicago - what a balmy weather site!
