Americans/Foreigners in Korea

Discussion in the KBO News forum
Americans/Foreigners in Korea
Guest Null/Andrew submitted two fantastic lists in the "Americans in Taiwan" thread. The lists were of the all-time foreign hitters and pitchers in the CPBL.

Does anyone have lists for foreign hitters and pitchers in the Korean Baseball Organization?

Thank you Andrew.

Was this list only for 2002?

Isn't Iriki playing in the KBO this year: the first Japanese of non-Korean ancestry.

There were many Japanese with Korean blood since the very beginning in 1982: Jinten Haku (In-Chun Baek), Niura etc.

I think non-Koreans were first allowed to play in the KBO in 1998 or 1999.

Where did you get your info? There are some errors. Will update soon, but don't have all the info offhand.

    SK Wverns-Pitcher Smith, Infielder Diaz

    Hyundai Unucorns-Pitcher=Powers 3rd base Franklin

LG Twins Oufielders 2= Manny Martinez, Bret Cookson

    KIA Tigers-Pitchers 2=Rios, Keifer

    Samsong Lions-Pitcher=Alvera, SS= Buriddo

Doosan Bears, pitcher= Iriki(Japan), If Mike Coolbaugh

Lotte Giants- pitcher Mori (Japan) OF, Boy

Hanhwa Eagles- pitchers 2 = Piccota, Estrada.

I believe all the players who aren't from Japan are American, or have played some in America, please don't post what you don't know, false information isn't fair to those guys who are there.

Yes, this list is up to year 2000. I do not live in Korea so the info is from the Stars and Stripes.

I believe the Pitcher for the Unicorns is Bowers.
I have a question about Korean foreign players?

In Korea, how well do foreign players get paid? I know Japanese foreign players get paid around $400,000 to $600,000 a year.
