中日はチャイナスターズ（中国選抜）に逆転勝ちし、予選リーグ２位通過で決勝へ進出した。打線は元中日の呂建剛に５回１死まで無安打無得点だったが、井上一樹外野手（３６）が同点弾。６回には荒木雅博内野手（３０）の１発で勝ち越し、７回には一挙６得点で試合を決めた。ＳＫ（韓国）は統一（台湾）に１３－１（７回コールド）で圧勝し、予選リーグ３戦全勝で決勝進出。１１日の決勝で中日がＳＫに勝てば日本勢３連覇で、北京五輪アジア予選の“前哨戦” を制して星野ジャパンへ流れをつなぐ。
